_ There is a lot of change that occurred or was likely to occur in the time of the gold rush. Some of this change was evolutionary and some was revolutionary. There were many, many types of changes that occurred. There were many evolutionary, or slow changes that happened in the gold rush. For example, a miner trying to get to the gold fields in California was not likely to succeed at his first attempt. During our journey, three, maybe even four tries were needed to get to the gold fields. In addition, a very evolutionary change in the gold rush could be the process of coyote mining. First a miner would have to dig a hole two hundred fifty feet deep. This itself would take a long, long time. Then the mining would start, and if a miner didn’t find anything he would have to start yet another coyote hole. These changes are definitely evolutionary. Although those changes were evolutionary there were many changes that were revolutionary too. Many gambling miners lost their money quickly. Some miners also won money quickly because they gambled. The population in California increased at a revolutionary pace. These are just some of the many big changes that could occur.
